The Whole Truth About Acne Home Remedies
A lot of people suffer from acne. Anyone with acne has one goal in mind: to get rid of it. The severity of the condition will vary between people, as will the effectiveness of certain treatments. You shouldn't have to deal with the embarrassment of blemishes on your face. The prescription and over-the-counter medications vary in price and effectiveness toward your skin. But why not try a few acne home remedies first? You may find something that works for you from your very own bathroom or kitchen.

The main purpose of an acne medication is to unclog your pores and calm inflammation. Acne home remedies are usually not for extreme cases, but more aimed at the mild to occasional blemishes. Some acne home remedies sound a little silly, and are not tested or proven by a real dermatologist. Some home remedies may worsen your condition or not effect it at all. You should be aware of this possibility before you try any of these. Common acne home remedies include: salt water, toothpaste, egg whites, ice, apple cider vinegar, steam, or wheat germ.

Washing your face with warm, mild salt water dries up excess acne-inducing oils. The advantage to using this instead of a normal soap to wash your face is that it is less likely to aggravate the acne or your skin.

Applying a bit of toothpaste on a visible pimple before you go to sleep helps reduce swelling. It also keeps the area free of oils that could make the spot worse. Be sure to use an actual paste because a gel will not have the same effect. This is the most common of all the acne home remedies.

Dab egg whites on a pimple that is already on the surface. If you leave it on overnight, it is said to draw out the infection and speed up the healing process.

Holding a cube of ice on acne before bed should visibly decrease the inflammation and swelling. It may also reduce the chances of scarring after your skin has cleared up.

Placing a cotton ball into apple cider Vinegar and then applying it to your infected area will almost instantly reduce swelling. This works especially well for large inflamed spots.

You are always advised not to squeeze any pimples, however, blackheads will not go away on their own. Opening your pores using steam to can assist you when you are cleaning your face. Take a hot shower or put your head over the vapors of a boiling pot of water.

Wheat germ, which can be found in most stores, is one of the only acne home remedies taken internally. Taking wheat germ with one meal a day can clear your acne and leave your skin softer than it was before because it is rich in helpful vitamins.

The most commonly effective acne home remedies are found in most homes. The benefit of experimenting with these on your blemishes is that you don't have to go out and buy anything. If it doesn't work, you didn't waste any money in the process. If it does help the condition of your acne, then you have a great, cheap solution to your problem.

by: John Wellington

Article Source: www.iSnare.com

title:home remedies(Home Remedies)
<The Whole Truth About Acne Home Remedies>

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Bad Breath, Halitosis And Home Remedies
When the Webmaster of www.breathbadgone.com asked me to write an article on halitosis (bad breath) I was thrilled. Strange, you say, that I should be enthused about the subject of halitosis (bad breath)? As an RN for over 25 years I have smelled many, many kinds of breath/ halitosis, and found that breath is a wonderful diagnostic tool. It can tell me how sick the patient is, and sometimes even what they have. I once worked with a wonderful doctor in the emergency room, who asked me what I smelled in the breath of a particular patient. We both felt we smelled a candida/yeast infection, and sure enough, that’s just what it turned out to be! Bad breath/ halitosis is always a sign that something else is going on, and I’d like to share with you a few interesting cases and general principles in this regard.

I have a friend who is a sensitive person. We were sitting at a table and I asked him how his day was. He said OK, but his breath was bad and his stomach seemed upset. After I asked a few more questions he finally let on he that he’d had an argument with his employer. As he was telling his story he drank the big glass of water I had given him. And as soon as he’d unburdened his feelings and the water was gone… so was his bad breath/ halitosis. The moral of this story… dehydration and emotional issues can both affect our breath.

Many patients who come to the emergency room have bad breath. Simply giving them fluids (water or salt water intravenously) not only helps their primary condition, but the bad breath as well. You don’t have to be in the Sahara desert to get dehydrated. Everyone needs to drink abundant water each day.

Small babies do not have bad breath/ halitosis when they are healthy. Bad breath (halitosis) is a sign that something is wrong and needs attention. Healthy toddlers don’t have bad breath either, so when babies, toddlers or growing children develop bad breath, the following factors usually play a role: dehydration, stress, wrong foods, bad digestion and poor dental health.

Indeed, these are the same top causes of bad breath in adults, followed by digestive problems and infections, for which one should seek medical help. A great remedy for infections of all kinds, whether viral/ bacterial/ parasite and candida, or yeast, is Oil of Oregano. Oil of Oregano is an all-natural remedy that is as strong as pharmaceutical antibiotics, but with no side effects. It is also a great first aid remedy to have on hand.

I could go on and on about the distinct varieties of bad breath smells among those who drink alcohol, who smoke, who have diabetes, internal bleeding, liver diseases, or cancer. But I will spare you the unsavory details. The point is to focus on clean breath, and to heal the underlying causes of bad breath, which will give you better health and more enjoyment of your life. By welcoming bad breath/ halitosis as an opportunity to take preventive measures, you will be doing yourself a world of good.

May your breath be sweet!

Pieternel van Giersbergen

© 2005 Pieternel van Giersbergen. www.pieternel.com

by: Pieternel Van Giersbergen

Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Various Home Remedies
What was the first thing your mother did for you when you had a cold? She cooked some chicken noodle soup. It has been proved, however, that some of these various home remedies work. While some border on the outrageous, some may work. Remember, however, that if the problem is severe, to see a health care professional. On to the home remedies!

Acne and pimples: Try toothpaste. The chemicals in the tooth paste that are used to scrub your teeth clean actually dry out the pimples over night. Lemon juice will have the same affect. Be sure to wash with warm water in the morning. If your acne isn’t phased by these two remedies, try boiling 3 teaspoons of basil leaves in 1 cup water and applying it to the affected areas via a cotton ball. Rubbing raw garlic on the affected area will also help blemishes to disappear with minimal scarring.

Bladder/Kidney Problems: Boil cranberries and let me fall apart into the water. Cool and drink the water, and make sure to not add sugar.

Bags Under Your Eyes: Mix 1 teaspoon of tomato juice with a pinch of turmeric powder, half a teaspoon lemon juice and a teaspoon of flour. It will make a paste. Apply around your eyes for 10 minutes and then wash off.

Energizer: Drink a mixture of grapefruit juice and lemon juice in equal parts to eradicate that tired feeling at the end of the workday.

Gum in Your Hair: Surprisingly, this can be remedied easily by soaking the affected hair in Coca Cola. The gum will easily wipe out.

Hangovers: Drink plenty of water! Alcohol leaves the body in a severe state of dehydration. Also, try some honey. The fructose in the honey will help the alcohol dissipate from your body.

Heartburn: Because heartburn is caused by an overload of stomach acid trying to make its way up the esophagus, try sitting up and eating rice pudding that was made with milk. It will help absorb all that extra acid floating around your stomach. If your heartburn reoccurs often.

by: Dana Goldberg

Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
How To Prevent And Treat Sinus Infections Using Home Remedies
Sinus infections can be very persistent and debilitating. This article covers some very successful home remedies for the prevention and treatment of sinusitis that I have collected and developed over the years. I use all of these methods regularly and no longer have any problems with my sinuses (or colds and flu either!).

Let’s start with prevention. One of the very best ways to prevent and treat sinus infections is to keep your sinus areas (forehead and cheek areas) warm and the mucus membranes moist. It’s especially important to keep your forehead and cheeks warm when you sleep. Keeping a towel, hat or warm scarf over these areas as you sleep can really help. This also is a great treatment if you already have a sinus infection.

In addition, using a humidifier in the room where you sleep is an excellent way to prevent and treat a sinus infection. These two suggestions alone can help to prevent your problem, but if not, there are lots of supplements and foods that you can take to keep your immune system in tip top condition to treat and prevent sinus problems.

Using a natural nasal spray made with salt and baking soda has helped me a lot. The recipe for this home remedy is ½ cup water, ¼ teaspoon salt and a pinch of baking soda. Make sure that you use really clean bottled water or filtered water, otherwise you could make things worse. Shake the mixture well and put into a clean nasal spray bottle. This is also an excellent home remedy for allergies. You can use this nasal spray several times a day; it is surprisingly effective as well as cheap!

Vitamins and Foods for Treating and Preventing Sinus Infections

Vitamins, minerals and food supplements make great home remedies for sinus infections and of course they will also help to prevent them. I’m sure you’re aware that vitamin C is good, but getting some vitamin C from fresh foods is even more important. A recent study discovered that natural vitamin C from food had a stronger effect on keeping the immune system healthy than synthetic C (almost all the C you buy as a supplement at the store is synthesized).

A few high C home remedy foods to prevent and treat sinus infections are citrus (oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons), kiwi, cabbage, broccoli, strawberries, raspberries and black berries. Vitamin C is a good natural decongestant and will help to dry up inflamed nasal passages due to colds and sinus infections. I eat a whole peeled orange (the white part and pulp are very good for you, better than orange juice) every day during the winter to prevent colds and sinus infections.

Does your vitamin C supplement contain bioflavonoids? This is another important supplement for keeping mucus membranes healthy and restoring your immune system. You can find supplements at your health food store or get them naturally in the white part of citrus fruit as well as in the pulp.

Another very important supplement is vitamin A (not beta carotene). It helps to keep your skin and mucus membranes healthy. Don’t take more than 5,000 IU every other day as large doses of A can cause problems. Be sure to purchase a supplement that is derived from a natural source (usually fish oil, synthetic vitamin A is not recommended). Natural vitamin A is found in eggs, dairy products, liver and some fish.

Do you take a naturally derived mixed carotene supplement every day? No longer is beta-carotene enough. Several other carotenoids (lutein, alpha carotene, lycopene) are as important or more so than beta. You especially want to be sure that you get the natural versions of these supplements, not the synthetic. Recent research shows that synthetic carotenes may not help much at all and may even be bad for you. Just make sure that the label mentions natural sources for the supplement (such as palm fruit). Carrots, yams and colored fruits and vegetables such as all berries, broccoli, spinach, chard, romaine lettuce, winter squash and tomatoes are carotene rich.

Minerals and Other Supplements for Treating and Preventing Sinus Infections

Several minerals are important in keeping your immune system in top shape as well. Zinc is the most important of these home remedies. Many people take zinc lozenges when they get a sinus infection, but if you take zinc in advance, you can completely avoid the unpleasantness of being sick. Yet another important mineral is selenium. Be careful not to take excessive amounts of these minerals because they can be toxic in larger doses.

Another little known but very valuable home remedy supplement is NAC or n-acetyl cysteine, which is a powerful antioxidant that is a form of the amino acid cysteine. It helps to increase your body’s supply of the very important enzyme, glutathione contributing significantly to your immune system as it reduces congestion.

A few other immune system home remedies to consider are raw garlic, flaxseed and flaxseed oil, echinacea, grapeseed extract and chlorella/spirulina. Don’t forget about fresh raw fruits and vegetables. It may sound boring because everyone is telling you to eat your fruits and veggies but the truth is... raw foods are very healthful. They contain all the natural enzymes and nutrients that are cooked out of almost all prepared foods.

People who eat mostly raw food tend to stay healthier than people who eat a lot of prepared and cooked foods. For the best home remedy for a sinus infection, you could go to your local grocery store and look at all the tempting raw foods you’ll find there. Then take some home, make a big salad with fruits or vegetables, and enjoy!

In the winter, you can buy many types of frozen fruits to use in smoothies or to eat with yogurt. Frozen fruit still has lots of great nutrients to keep you healthy. Before adding any supplements or changing your diet, consult your health professional.

by: T. Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Home Remedies
Ever have a bee sting? Try rubbing an aspirin on it. Gum in hair? Soak the gum-coated hair in Coke® and it should wipe out easily. While not being a replacement for medical attention, and you should always seek your doctor when you feel you have to and please take these home remedies with a grain of salt. Here you go and enjoy

ACNE, BLACKHEADS, AND PIMPLES:
Dab a small amount of toothpaste (paste, not gel) on pimples before bed; this helps dry out the pimples. Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning. For acne that hasn't seemed to respond to anything, brew 2-3 tsp. dried basil leaves in 1 cup boiling water for 10-20 minutes, cool, and apply to affected area with a cotton ball. Garlic has been used successfully in the treatment of acne. Pimples disappear without scars when rubbed with raw garlic several times a day.

BLADDER INFECTION
Take a bag of fresh or frozen cranberries and boil them in water (they will fall apart). Cool and drink. Don't add sugar! This remedy is also useful for people with kidney problems.

DARK CIRCLES AROUND EYES
Make a paste out of 1 tsp. tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder, and 1 tsp. of flour. Apply around eyes. Leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing.

ENERGIZER
Simmer 1 cup honey and 3 cup water together slowly. Allow 1 cup of the water to evaporate. Strain off the top surface, and put the remaining liquid into a stoneware crock or dark bottle. Put a towel over it so it can breathe, yet be free of dirt. Place in a cool place. You can add cinnamon, clove, or the juice of 2 lemons, if you like. Take a glass of grapefruit and lemon juice in equal parts to dispel fatigue and general tiredness after a day's work.

GUM IN HAIR
Soak the gum-coated hair in Coke® and it should wipe out easily.

MOSQUITO BITES
Apply lime juice diluted with water on bites with cotton ball. Apply one of the following to bites or stings to reduce pain and swelling:aloe Vera gel, garlic oil, baking soda and water, vinegar, honey, plantain tea, aspirin.

Hangover
Eat Crackers and honey. Honey has a high source of fructose and will be helpful in removing the remainder of the alcohol in your system. Aspirin for a headache or you can chew on some willow bark, willow bark contains a substance used in aspirin and will help your headache. You can find it in a health food store if you want to try an alternative to aspirin. Plenty of water, it will help flush out the alcohol, also too much alcohol leaves the body dehydrated, so have a drink of water.

Heartburn
Don't lie flat on your back. Heartburn is caused by the acid in your stomach moving upward to your esophagus. Try having a bowl of rice pudding, made with milk, this should help absorb stomach acid. Coffee and chocolate can inflame heartburn, so avoid them if you can. If you heartburn is a regular problem, you should think about going to the doctor.

Warts
Rubbing liquid vitamin A on the wart everyday will eventually take it away, but it's a slow process. Use castor oil on the wart and then wrap the offending area up tightly with a bandage. Repeat this 2 times a day.

Bad Breath
Try some parsley. This food garnish is rich in chlorophyll, a green plant compound that kills the bacteria that cause bad odor.

Chapped Lips
Try using castor oil. Carry a small squeeze bottle of the oil and apply it with your finger often throughout the day. Popular lip balms contain petroleum and alcohol, both of which may dry the skin on your lips.

I'm sure this is the tip of the iceberg, but these are the ones I know of. These home remedies are in no way a replacement to a Doctors care so if you feel that you might need to see a Physician, please do so.

by: Andy Casasanta

Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Skin Care Home Remedies
Natural homemade recipes for your skin are simple to make and cost-effective. What you put on your skin is just as important as what you eat. Commercial products often contain chemicals that are absorbed by your skin finding their way into the bloodstream which can be harmful to your overall health.

Virgin coconut oil/butter makes for a good moisturizer by providing a protective layer that locks in natural moisture. Coconut oil solidifies at temperatures below 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the coconut butter in small lip balm or eye cream jars or any small sterilized jar. For a lip balm, use coconut butter on its own or add peppermint or spearmint oil. As an acne treatment, add a couple of drops of tea tree, lavender, or patchouli oil. For wrinkles, add rose, orange or patchouli oil. To treat eczema, add chamomile, geranium, or orange oil. To treat broken capillaries, add rose, palmarosa, or parsley oil. To treat cellulite, add grapefruit, tangerine, or orange oil. For stretch marks, add palmarosa or neroli oil. To treat burns, add geranium, patchouli or lavender oil.

For sunburned skin, break open a leaf of an Aloe Vera plant and smooth onto the skin. The gel is also good for other types of burns and has soothing, cooling, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Strawberry juice, cucumbers and avocados are also soothing to sunburned skin.

For tired eyes, place cucumber slices over your eyes. For dark circles around your eyes, place cooled tea bags over your eyes.

For a homemade facial toner, mix green tea, chamomile or ginseng tea (made with mineral water or distilled water) with lavender or lemon oil. Green tea is rich in antioxidants which fight free radicals that damage and age the skin. Green tea is said to diminish fine lines. Lavender oil is a good toner and lemon oil is a good rejuvenator and toner. Add Vitamin C crystals as a preservative and antioxidant. MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) is a natural source of organic sulfur good for the skin. Add MSM crystals to your toner or eat high sulfur foods such as kale or watercress.

Prick a capsule of Vitamin A, E, or wheat germ oil and smooth directly onto your skin, add to coconut, almond or apricot oil, or to your toner. Vitamin A is a potent antioxidant and Vitamin E is said to slow down the aging process. Almond oil soothes and lubricates the skin. Apricot oil protects and softens the skin. Wheat germ oil promotes skin elasticity.

For a moisturizing and refreshing mask, mix avocado with shredded cucumber. Avocados are rich in protein and Vitamin A. Cucumbers are cooling and cleansing. Use a mashed banana for a skin firming mask.

To lighten age spots, rub lemon directly onto your skin.

For a body powder, mix cornstarch and baking soda with your favorite essential oil. For a foot powder, mix cornstarch, baking soda and tea tree or peppermint oil. Baking soda acts as a deodorizer and soothes the skin. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, and fungicide. Peppermint oil is soothing to the feet and swollen ankles.

Drinking plenty of water, eating raw fruits and vegetables, and getting plenty of rest are one of the best ways to achieving healthy and radiant skin. What goes into your body is reflective on your skin.

by: Elizabeth Kiely

Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Hair Care Home Remedies
Save money and give yourself a break from the chemicals found in most hair care products by using the following natural home remedies.

Tame your frizzy hair by rubbing coconut oil into your hands and applying sparingly onto your hair. You don't want to overdo it - too much will make your hair look greasy. Shampooing your hair less frequently also helps with the frizzies. Excess shampooing strips natural oils from the hair.

Rinse your hair with baking soda and water to rid your hair of shampoo build-up and styling residues. Rinsing your hair with one juiced lemon and one cup of water is said to bring life and shine back to dull hair. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water will give your hair shine and bounce.

Add essential oil of ylang ylang to your shampoo, conditioner and styling agents as a hair rejuvenator and to stimulate hair growth. Add patchouli to your shampoo if you have oily hair.

Rosemary is an effective hair tonic and conditioner. Rosemary also helps retain color especially in dark hair.

Chamomile and lemon juice have a mild bleaching effect on hair. Mix chamomile tea with lemon juice and use as a rinse to lighten hair.

For problems with dandruff, add rosemary and/or patchouli essential oils to your shampoo or mix with almond oil as a hair treatment for your scalp.

For hair loss, add horseradish oil, cedarwood, clary sage, and/or rosemary oil to your shampoo. Also, Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) is a natural source of organic sulfur good for treating hair loss. Take MSM supplements or eat high sulfur content greens such as kale and watercress.

Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair. What goes into your body is reflective on the outside including your hair.

by: Elizabeth Kiely

Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lemon And Parsley Home Remedies
You might think of lemon and parsley as great garnishes for your drink glass and plate, but did you know that you can use them to ease symptoms of common minor ailments?

Sure, the lemon makes a good drink and even tastes good squirted on fish, but you might want to make sure you have some on hand for more than dinner. The lemon can be your best friend when you have a common headache. Simply cut a long strip of the rind and put it on your forehead – rub in the inside white part and then fasten it to your head. Sure, you’ll look a little nutty but who cares as long as it gets rid of the ache!

Lemon peel is not only good for the head, but for the feet too! One age old remedy for corns is to apply a lemon peel (white side against the corn) to the corn and affix it so that it stays on overnight. You can remove it during the day, but repeat each night for 7 days.

Parsley is another great home remedy food that is often left uneaten on the side of the plate. Besides being rich in potassium and vitamins it is also reputed to strengthen the kidneys and help with waste removal. And not only that, but it can help relive bad breath too! So next time you get some parsley on your plate, eat up!

Parsley is also good as a topical remedy for bruises. Next time you have a bruise, crush up some parsley leaves and apply straight to the affected area.

One other problem that parsley is a good remedy for is bladder infections. You’ve probably experienced how quickly cranberry juice can clear up one of these, but if you don’t like cranberries or get sick of drinking it, try a parsley tea. Simply pour some boiled water over parsley and let steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain out the parsley and drink.

by: Lee Dobbins
Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies

Home Remedies Home Remedies
-----------------------------------------------------------
Discover Effective Home Remedies To Dandruff
Dandruff is a common problem. You can fall victim to excessive dandruff at any age. 97% of Americans suffer from dandruff at some time. One out of every two persons in the world have problem with dandruff.

Common practice is to treat dandruff with anti-dandruff shampoos. But did you know that you can use simple effective home remedies to treat dandruff? Home remedies may offer complete solutions for controlling dandruff.

One of the best ways to control dandruff is to apply a mixture of vinegar and water on the scalp. Make a mixture of 2 teaspoons of vinegar and 6 teaspoons of water and apply it on the scalp before you go to bed. Keep it for the whole night with a towel around the head. Rinse your head with vinegar water again in the morning. If you continue to treat your hair with it for few months, it will serve your purpose.

You can also use a mixture of 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2-teaspoons of vinegar. Massage the scalp with this solution. After the massage, treat your hair with an egg shampoo.

You can rub a combination of 1 part sulfur powder, 2 parts surgical spirit, 1 part almond oil and 4 parts rose water or distilled water on your scalp to keep dandruff at bay. Or:

Boil a mixture of 4-5 dried thyme and two cups of water for 10 minutes. When the mixture cools down, massage it on the scalp and leave it for half an hour. Wash it afterwards and see the results. You will have a dandruff-free head.

You can also soak ground fenugreek seeds overnight in water and massage the paste on the head, leaving it for a few minutes. Wash it afterwards using a mild shampoo.

You can also prepare a homemade mixture of 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice with 100 grams witch hazel in 200ml of water and use it on washed hair. Applying the mixture several times is helpful in warding off the problem of dandruff.

If you wash your hair with warm apple cider vinegar, leaving it for 30-40 minutes and then rinsing it with plain water, you are sure to control dandruff positively. You have to continue this process regularly to stop its return. The smell of the vinegar does evaporate!

Try a mixture of olive oil and almond oil. Massage your scalp with the mixture and leave it for five minutes after you feel the burning sensation. Rinse properly and you should have a dandruff-free head.

Did you know the well-known pain killer aspirin, used for relieving aches, can serve you equally effectively to eliminate the problem of dandruff? Just crush and powder two aspirin tablets and add it to your shampoo. Leave the mixture on your scalp for two minutes. Rinse and wash properly to remove the aspirin particles completely from the scalp.

You can directly use Aloe Vera gel to remove excess dandruff. Apply the gel on your scalp 10-15 minutes before you plan to wash your hair. Regular use of the gel before shampooing will keep down the growth of dandruff.

These remedies take time to show a visible change but are effective for some people.

The best point concerning a home remedy is that you have many options and, if you think that a particular ingredient does not suit you, you can try an alternative. You should give each remedy at least a week before trying another.

by: Alex Fir
Article Source: www.iSnare.com
-----------------------------------------------------------
home remedies home remedies
